The Camino de Santiago has become a symbol for anyone upon a spiritual journey—from the deeply pious, to divorcees, addicts, adventurers and anyone in a period of transition. ‘Dirt Road’ covers my own thousand kilometre journey across northern Spain, hiking through the decaying villages and landscapes along the Camino. I’d initially set out with the intention of investigating the transient population, but the project would ultimately come to reflect what I felt embodied the ‘spirit of the Camino’.
