The Camino de Santiago has become a symbol for anyone on a spiritual journey—from the deeply pious to divorcees, addicts, adventurers and anyone in a period of transition. ‘Dirt Road’ covered my thousand-kilometre journey across northern Spain through the decaying villages and landscapes along the Camino. I’d initially set out to investigate the transient population, but the project would ultimately come to reflect what I felt embodied the spirit of the Camino.
